I'm buying a .22 to practice tactical shooting wiht after reading an article that said - don't buy a .22 upper for your AR, which only has 10 rd mags - get shooting with a 10/22 and 25 rd Butler Creek mags! Looking around at the options I found Rhineland Arms R22 as well, but don't know anything about them. Welcome any opinions on either a tricked up 10/22 or the Rhineland Arms R22. The R22 is cheaper when I take into account everything I want to do to the Ruger!:D

All non 10 round factory 10/22 magazines are unreliable trash.:( There is one company that I read about in small arms review that makes some good steel 25 rounders, but they are hand machined and cost more than butler creek mags did at the peak of the Klinton gun ban. If your interested, I can go look up the article.

I would be interested. :)

Tactical Innovations makes a 25rnd magazine with Butler Creek internals. The body is CNC machined aluminum and is adjustible for fit and feed angle.

Once adjusted to YOUR rifle it should prove as reliable as the OEM magazine.

Mine is.

for cheap ammo practice for an AR15, I like the R22 since it is ready to go out of the box for the most part, and you can set up sights just like an AR (either optics or irons). With a 10/22 you'll have to do some work to it to get it to handle similar. Its pretty inexpensive to set it up mind you

Rhinelander it is!

Thanks guys! I'll check into those Tactical Innovations mags too!

WHOOPS - they arer $60!:uhoh: I think I'll try the Butler Creek

If you allready have a an ar you can pick up a Ceiner and a great ten round mag for $148 from brownells. If you get the discount (C&R)it is only $118. The ceiner 30 round mag is about foolproof but runs $50-$55. In other words if you get the discount or know somebody who does the Ceiner with a ten round and a thirty is going to cost you about what a plain jane 10/22 will cost new.
My Ceiner with standard velocity target ammo (I like Wolf MT) will outshoot my Ruger 10/22 Target model and I allready have all my AR add on toys that will work with it.

Butler Creek with steel lips 30rd. mags always works great on my 10/22's.

Run great for me too, but 1911JMB tells us they are trash.

Oh well, shows what we know! :neener:

This won't work for me as I am getting a 6.5mm Grendel AR. One reason I want a .22 for inexpensive practice! Unless the Ciener 30-rds work with a dedicated .22 upper?

How much are the Rhineland R22s going for? Looks like a pretty sweet gun.

From Rhinelander Arms:

The price is $385 delivered to a dealer for the R22 with your coice of barrels and stocks and $395 for the R22SD(not yet available in California)

Thanks

I wish Rhinelander all the success in the world, but if its your first or the only 22 you're getting, go with the 10/22.

Sure, it looks great, but I knew a pretty girl in high school that was a tramp.
