10/22 mags

I am not a big rifle but I do have a couple and 1 is a Ruger 10/22...I have several 10 round mags and one 25 Butler Creek Banana mag that came with it when I bougth it( I got it used)....I have a want a couple more 25/30 or even 50 round mags but the price around here at gun shows have been outrageous...but now that the AWB have lapsed I am looking to find them at a reasonable price....does anyone know of a source...Butler Creek or Ramline either one will be fine...Thanks

Supposedly you will be able to get the Steel Lips mags within a month or so.

My advice would be to stock up on these. Get a dozen... SERIOUSLY. They are good magazines and will probably not go down any in value.

Is there any advantage to having the Steel lips...are they better than the Hot Lips

Some people say so just on general principle, yes. However, I've never heard of anyone with the Hot Lips mags complain either. Me, I don't own a 10/22 yet but I will be buying a few of the Steel Lips mags when they come out again in anticipation of buying one of these:

In theory the steel lip mags should be better.

In my personal experience, I have never had a problem with the standard plastic lips-and my mags are over 10 years old with countless thousands of rounds through them.

Same here. The upper notch of the steel lips, as with the stock mags, is suppose to serve as the primary ejector. There is a secondary ejector in the trigger housing and this is what kicks out the casings for the Hot Lips.
