Ok guys..anyone know what is the most expensive rifle ammo out there? Anything above .50 cal does not qualify, so don't list a rifled sabot round for the M1 Abrams!

So far Garrett seems pretty hefty.
GARRETT'S 45-70 EXITER AMMO
$180 / 20 CTGS
500-GRAIN SPEER TUNGSTEN SOLID AT 1530-FPS

FOR USE ONLY IN MODERN WINCHESTER, BROWNING, AND MARLIN REPEATING RIFLES.
ENERGY: 2600 FT/LBS; TAYLOR KNOCKOUT VALUE: 50; MEPLAT: .235"; CHAMBER PRESSURE: 35,000-CUP; SMALL-PRIMER; CCI 41 MILITARY-SPEC PRIMER; CUSTOM SMALL PRIMER POCKETED NICKEL-PLATED STARLINE BRASS; TRAJECTORY: +1.5" @ 50-YDS, ZERO @ 100-YDS, -6" @ 150-YDS

Only $9.00 a shot!

However NIOA Trading only wants $192.20 for the WEATHERBY.460 500GR SP ammunition. $9.61 a shot!

Anyone else know of crazy prices?

At a gunshow I've seen a table with turk 8mm on strippers for $5 per stripper of ammo. That's only about a 15,000% markup.

Any surplus ammo sold at Dunham's.

Personally, I was with my buddy when he purchased a box of shells (20) for his Weatherby .30-378. I believe he paid around $80.00. Ouch! (He did let me shoot it though, BOOOOM! :D )

Yeah 30-378 is expensive

I can confirm what meathammer says. $80-$85 for a box of 20. That is if you can find a place that stocks 30-378.
Still $9 for some glorified 45-70. That's insane...

Dunhams prices (especially on .30 carbine) aren't too bad here - it's that they make you fill out a form with your name and address and record your driver's license number when you buy ammo there.

Hence was the reason the scene I made the last time I visited a Dunhams (they don't seem to recognize that ammo in WV is NOT serial number marked) and why I have yet to purchase any ammo, or anything else there since I learned that.

This probably shouldn't count either because it's obsolete, but loaded ammo for my 45-110 Sharps costs $94.99 per box of 20 from Cabelas. Other than that, I too have a buddy who has a .30-378 Weatherby. I was with him when he bought 5 boxes of ammo for it because the ammo was on sale - it was being closed out. If I remember right, my buddy wrote out a check for almost $300.00!

Yup, the idiot form that has to be filled out. :fire:

Prices at local dunhams-

10 round box of 7.5x55 $9.99
Turk bandoliers (70 rd) 9.99
Albanian 7.62x54r (20 rd paper wrapped) $5.99
Czech 7.62x54R (20 rds) $9.99
Portugese 7.62 Nato (200 rd can) $60
20 rd box of S&B .303 $20

Highway robbery.

I was about to mention .700 NE, it is most certianly extremely expensive, .600 NE is no better.

the nitro express rounds are about the most expensive I've seen.
went into a gun store in alaska in 2004 and they had several different nitro calibers, they were all about $40-$60 a pop... the store owner told me he only sells about 100 rounds a year to a few of the professional guides in the area.

and I thought 7mm mag was expensive at $1.50 a pop

BANG..$50... BANG...$100... BANG... $150... BANG.....$200... ouch

a day at the range could cost you a weeks pay...
