I've decided to make an attempt at building either a rifle from kit or a 36cal revolver. I have a beautiful T/C Renegade 50cal percussion rifle, I also have a Jukar 45cal flintlock pistol, 1858 Remmi 44cal. Years ago I my first b/p was a 36al revolver and I'm leaning to that direction. A gentleman locally has a CVA Flintlock rifle he built and never fired or for that matter never had a flint in the jaws, I can get for $150.00 or so. Help me make the decision, true be known I want all of them but money being what it is there will only be one.

The revolver sounds like the way to go. The flintlock will probably still be available down the road so that means that you can still anticipate purchasing it in the future.
Plus you seem to be pretty smitten with the idea of having another .36 revolver.

You're trying to decide to either 1) build a kit rifle, or 2) buy a finished .36 cal revolver.

The CVA flintlock kit your friend has for $150 is already completed, so I don't see how that fits with what you want. Unless you come across an uncompleted kit at an auction or estate sale someplace, buying a new rifle kit will be much more expensive than the revolver.

$150 for a completed CVA flintlock kit gun is a very good price, assuming he did a halfway decent job. That's not likely to sit around waiting for you, unless this gentleman has promised it to you alone.

If you don't mind giving up the ambition of building your own kit, buy the rifle because it's a good price and may disappear; .36 cal revolvers will be available for many years to come.

I've been thinking about flinters recently. If you don't buy his rifle please get me in touch with him,
