Rifle Laws in Michigan (or anywhere for that matter)

A buddy on mine just talked to his dad, who told him that there is a law on the books prohibiting me from sighting in my rifle two weeks prior to deer season opening. Is this true? I guess the law only applies to public land, as a means to cut down on poaching. Has anyone heard of this?

Also, I shoot at a old gravel pit, who owns it is a mystery, but many other shooters make use of the same pit. I just find it hard to believe that two weeks prior to the opening of deer season there would be a law saying we can't sight in our rifles...

ANY info (perticularly from Michigan riflemen) would be greatly appreciated.

As a kid, I remember having MI restrictions on transporting, posessing, etc. before or during season w/out a license, but nothing abt sighting in since i think target practice was excluded. No matter, the info should be here:

Here in Minnesota--

"No person may possess a firearm or ammunition outdoors during the period beginning the fifth day before the opening firearms season and ending the second day after the close of the season within an area where deer may be legally taken by firearms."

It then goes on to exempt CCW permit holders, .22 caliber rimfire firearms, shotguns containing #4 buckshot or smaller, a cased firearm or one locked in a vehicle's trunk, and those on an authorized firearm range.
