What is this?
DSC01253.jpg

After some searching I figured it out. It is a RARR in 300BLK, or could be called RARE for how few can be found. Considering I have been on every local shops waiting list for the last 9 months and considering the events that took place during the purchase I figured this had to be a unicorn.

I did call all 6 shops to let them know I finally picked one up, 3 of them said don't shoot it and send it back to Ruger as they were having troubles with it and that's why no one can get them. I think we all know about the magazine feeding issues, so I have no worries there.

Me and a close friend went into a new shop today one we had never been in and just looked around. I told him you know what no harm in asking, so I proceeded to the counter and asked about the RARR in 300BLK the guy said he just sold the last one only a few hours prior. Well just my luck right, well the manager came over and said are you sure, he proceeded to the back and a few minutes later returns with a very long white box. This couldn't be true, no way he said yes here is your 6968 this is the last one. He then told the guy helping me you looked in the wrong place.

I went right home mounted the scope and headed to the range. As soon as I get to the range a torrential down pour and serious lightening. It only lasted about 15 minutes and there was one other family there waiting so I figured I don't feel to bad I am not the only crazy one. After the rain there was serious wind so I was pretty excited in the results of my first 5 shots with the rifle.

As you can see I quickly reloaded a few rounds just to try and beat the rain.

Stay tuned for a full review of this RARR to be added to the rest of my 300 Blackout Journey of load and chronograph data.

.
Nice rifle. That's a good all-around scope you have there. Will you use it for astronomy when it's too dark to shoot?

Nice looking rifle. I pretty much like everything about it, especially the accuracy potential there. Look forward to your updates on load data and results.

Sweet looking RARR! :D

Very curious how it feeds from the mag. From my experience with a compact in 223 the most issues have occurred with standard 55 grain bullets. Heavier bullets have been near perfect from the mag.

I have a compact in 223 and a standard RAR in 308. Both are good shooting guns, especially for the money. The best of the budget rifles in my opinion and out shooting some guns costing $1,000.

I'd be tempted to swap my standard 308 for a Predator if I ever find one.

Not exactly sure what this means. I'll take it as sarcasm that someone thinks the scope is too big. A 3-9X40 is not at all out of place on that rifle. The Vortex Diamondbacks are probably just as good as any other $200 scope out there including those made by Nikon, Burris, Leupold or Redfield. There are features that I prefer on other brands, but that is a decent scope for that rifle.

Nice looking set up you have. You don, t have to spend big money to shoot small groups. What length barrel is that? I think the shorter barrel makes the scope look bigger. Hence the comment about the scope. Still looks pretty BA.

Most of the major manufacturers have a lower price point line of rifles that incorporate the latest manufacturing techniques are indeed very accurate for not a lot of money.

Great target especially considering the conditions, congrats!

"I sure recognize the 50 yard line on that range, I'd have expected it to do better at 50."

Considering it was the very first time behind the rifle and scope I am very happy with it, the bore sighting seemed to have worked and got me right on target.

Having shot many rifles over the past 20 years I have yet to find one that shot much better with the first handload or factory ammo I have tried. Maybe I am just that bad of a shot :)

Once I find the right load I am sure it will meet all my needs.

Didnt realize they were still rare. I just sold mine locally for $400. Picked up a savage FCP and had to drop one rifle.
