O.K. this one is just for fun. What is your idea of the perfect rifle/pistol combo and why. They don't have to be in the same caliber but, you score big points with me if they are.:D If you have different combos for different purposes by all means, tell us. I'm gonna break my lists up into what I have and what I want.

What I Have

Well I won't try all of the possible combos so I'll let you guys pick which is the best for you.

Revolvers Rifles

SS 5 1/2" NM Vaquero 45 Marlin Cowboy 45 24"
SS 5 1/2" NM Vaquero 45 Marlin Cowboy 45 24"
SS 4 3/4" OM Vaquero Birds Head 45 Marlin Cowboy Comp 45 20"
SS 4 3/4" OM Vaquero Birds Head 45 Uberti 73 Win 45 26"
SS 3 1/2" OM Vaquero Birds Head 45 Marlin 94 cs 357 18"
SS 3 1/2" OM Vaquero Birds Head 45
SS 4 1/2" Vaquero Single Six 32 H&R Mag
SS 4 1/2" Vaquero Single Six 32 H&R Mag

My favorite Combo for shootin: (2) 5 1/2 New Models with my antiqued Marlin Stoked with the Holy Back

For picture takin: Either pair of engraved Birds heads with my 73 Winchester

For Huntin: 5 1/2" NM and 20" Marlin in 45 colt

For self Defense: My Glock 23 and My OLY ARMS PCR-16

WHAT I WANT
S&W 460/Rossi ss 454 Unless Marlin makes one before I buy the Rossi

OLY ARMS rifle that takes Glock Mags in 40 S&W to go with my G23
If they ever make that rifle in 357 SIG I would buy that first to go with my G32

I'm not a real Cowboy but I play one on the weekends:D

Bushie AR-15 and CZ SP-01 - it's tactical, man! if any terr'ists come knocking on my door, I've got 49 rounds locked and loaded. I should get at least two lasers for each, one high and one low so I can just plan on hitting in between.

Marlin 1894 .44 Mag and Ruger New Vaquero in .357 - it's tactical, man! if any Injuns come knocking on my sod cabin, I've got 16 rounds loaded, if not locked. I should probably get a lantern in case they come at night.

Browning Buckmark Hunter and a .22LR to be named later - I'm broke, man!

"...Browning BAR .30-06..." Yes, but the LMG. U.S. troopies have never used the BHP to the best of my recollection though.
I've never seen any need for a pistol when I have a rifle. The load used will be different for each too. Ok. An M-1 carbine and a Ruger revolver in .30 carbine. The carbine because it's light and handy. No milsurp ammo though. Strictly my 110 grain HP handloads. The revolver because the .30 carbine out of a handgun, loaded properly, is an excrement hot magnum-like round.

Marlin 1894S and 5.5" Ruger SuperBlackhawk in .44 Mag.
Marlin 1894C and 4.0" Ruger GP100 in .357 Mag.
Custom Ruger 10/22 and S&W 317 Kit Gun (or Browning Buckmark) in .22 LR.

For camping on a buddies property (very large farm) I used to carry my Smith 586 and a Marlin 1894, both in .357. Wish I still had the rifle.

Marlin 1894C and 6" Ruger GP100 in .357 Mag That's the combo I got right now.
Eventually a PC9 since nobody makes a 9mm carbine that takes BHP mags.

Maybe not perfect combinations but they are what I have.:)

45ACP
Kimber, etc.
45 Marlin Camp Carbine
M1 Thompson

9mm
P38, Taurus PT99, etc.
UZI

.223
Kel Tec and Bushmaster pistols.
Bushmaster M4
Colt AR
NM Rock River Arms AR

Since the Camp Carbine and 45 pistols use the same magazine and the .223 rifles and pistols use the same magazines I suppose they make good combinations.:)

My favorite combos are

Taurus 94 .22lr & Henry .22lr

Ruger MKII & Ruger 10\22

Marlin 1894 .357mag & Ruger GP100

Browning 1886 Carbine, (45-70) and Ruger 45 Colt.

Pre-64 Winchester 94, and Smith model 29 4".

Depends on if out in grizzly area or not.

Classic Combo:
Any AR15 carbine chambered in .45acp and a good ol' fashion 1911.

Tactical Combo
AR15 in .45acp and either an HK USP or Sig Sauer P220 also in .45acp

I can't wait to get an old style Ruger Single Six (with the brass trigger guard) to go with my Henry Goldenboy. Both .22lr, would be perfect for a cowboy action shooting match. Alas, I'll have to wait a few years to buy it (18 years old now, unless I find one privately).

My modest collection of combos are:

BFR 7.5" .45-70 and Marlin 1895GS
Ruger Blackhawk 6.5 .357 and Winchester 94
