A local service club is raffling off two rifles. A Mossberg 7mm mag poly stock ( I think it's a Patriot model) with sight bases and a Ruger 10/22 carbine with forearm clamp.. The 10/22 has a 21/2" to 3" medal sunk into the right rear of the butt stock. (it could be bronze) I think it is some kind of 50th anniversary commemorative medal, but can't get close enough to see or read the inscription.
Which is the better rifle to claim if one should win the raffle. I would take the Ruger, but have no idea what the value of these guns are.
Ruger has no pictures that I can find on the net that shows this medal in the stock.

I consider the original cost of the rifles as well as the use they have for me. I'm guessing the Moss' is slightly more expensive (about $300) versus $230 for the .22.
I'd have to buy a scope for the Moss' in order to shoot it as it has no sights. I do not hunt anymore due to my old age. I still shoot 22's at targets. The Ruger would be best for me.
Has anyone seen a picture of the indicated 22 with the stock emblem????

I stopped in to ask about the rifle today. It is a 40th Anniversary rifle, and brand new. It has been in storage.

I probably wouldn't buy a ticket for that raffle. If I did, and I won, I'd take the Ruger. It would be easier to sell, or customize into something I'd want. A Mossberg in 7 mag would be hard to get rid of.

I would take the Ruger 10/2 as I wouldn't mind having a spare around for family and friends to use. Don't have any use for the Mossberg Patriot in 7mm. Mag.

Already have a 7mm Rem Mag in an older Ruger and while I do have a 10/22 I would likely opt for another. I haven't shot the 7mm Rem Mag in years as after about 10- rounds I am done for the day. :) While a great hunting rifle I really don't hunt anymore so for me it would be just another little 22 rifle.
