What brand of rifle scope has the longest eye relief?
I want to put a scope on an Encore pistol with a 15" barrel. I want more magnification than what I can find in a typical handgun scope. Yet I don't want to get nailed in the forehead either.

Check out the Natchez web site. They have al types . Get to see how they look plus a description of everything including................eye relief.

As a brand Leupold has the most forgiving eye relief. It varies by the individual scope and the magnification. Some brands may have slightly more on individual models, but if eye relief is important Leupold is the 1st place I'd look Most Leupold variables will have around 4.5" on the lowest magnification and around 3.5-4" on the higher end.

Zeiss will have either 3.5" or 4" at all settings depending on the scope. Most scopes will be 3"-3.5". Some are constant through all magnifications, others will vary.

7mm/08 caliber.......seeing a full field of view is going to be out of the question with a rifle scope anyway and not get tagged in the head. A full field of view is not essential however.

. You say you want a rifle scope, but you say you're putting it on a pistol. Different critters.

If it is a pistol, I had a 2-8 Weaver on my Contender pistol. I strongly preferred it over Leupold or Burris, and it was less money.

Check out the Burris 2x-20mm. It has a 15 inch eye relief. I have one on my M1 Garand mounted on a Ultimak upper rear rail/mount. I used the combo to earn my Rifleman badge and an Appleseed event last year.

Pops has a 7mm 08 Savage Striker.
Wears a Burris 2-7X EER (extended eye relief- or what many just call "long").
He loves it.

I hate it.

I'd rather have a 2X fixed EER Leupold for hunting.

The old TC (Japanese) 2.5-7X were decent (but then I'd still prefer a Leupold 2X).

FWIW I wouldn't put a standard eye relief (rifle) scope on a handgun unless it was a .22rf and I was back into silhouette.

Dunno if they still make 'em, but Burris used to make INTERMEDIATE eye relief scopes. Shoot your handguns with 'em halfway back LOL.

Probably comparable to the "scout scope" now.

The Leupold Handgun VX-3 2.5x8 32mm ...has 15" of eye relief ...

An encore pistol usually means a rifle caliber. After getting to shoot one with this Leupold Handgun scope, I would recommend it. From a rest or sticks, it has enough magnification adjustment for a variety of calibers, although 2.5-4x was about my limit for keeping it steady.
