Define "near by"
There's Flintlock (public) shooting range in uwharrie natl forest, which is about 1.5 hrs from charlotte, and costs $3/day (get passes at the outpost, not the range, further info below). It gets crowded at times. make sure you bring your own target stand and targets.
There's a couple public ones in SC maybe 1.5ish hours from downtown charlotte as well. Here's some random coordinates and distances I dug up a long time ago for a friend: (For reference I live in South East Charlotte) (Sorry they're not very organized).
