I have noticed more synthetic and other materials being offered more over the past several years than wooden stocks my question is what does everyone prefer and why? I am a wooden stock man because I love the balance and the natural beauty of wooden stocks.

@Bull72 welcome to the forum.

I too prefer a nice piece of wood, but all of my center fire hunting rifles have synthetic stocks and matte finishes. Less glare from blued steel and glossy wood finishes as well as less expansion and contraction due to weather changes. Therefore less poi, poa impact differences. I'm in NY and hunt in varying weather conditions from 50 degrees to 0 degrees, rain and snow could happen on any day.
