If this isn't the right forum, please move.

I've been leaving a 22 lever rifle under the back seat of my crew cab. It's in a Bore Store sleeve. Twice I've pulled it out to find it wet with what I assume is condensation. The truck doesn't leak and there's no water on the floor.

Is there a better storage method? I don't want a rear window rack or anything like that. Maybe the problem will go away once summer hits?

^Cerakote wouldn't be a bad option either. $100 to get a whole gun finished from my local guy. Stands up to moisture incredibly well.

Also, is the gun for quick access or for when you have to ditch the truck and start hiking? If it's for a get-home scenario, there's no reason why you couldn't actually go with M-Cameron's vacuum saver idea. Would keep the rifle sealed, which is good for both the rifle and the ammo in it.

velcro it to the back seat. really. put some velcro on the side of the gun and just stick it

I'm thinking that when it cools off at night the surface drops below the dew point. I can't put it behind the back seat as they don't move. A sealed case might work like you'd use for air travel. I'm having trouble figuring why the rifle gets wet when the metal on the inside of the truck doesn't.
I've been keeping the rifle in the truck just because you never know when someone might say "if we had a rifle we could shoot some cans".
