I've always been intrigued by the CZ-512 Semi-automatic in .22 LR,,,
I think it's a beautifully styled rifle and pleases my eye.
But I already owned two very nice .22 semi-autos,,,
I really couldn't justify the spending on another.
Then they came out with the CZ-512 Carbine,,,
That shortened barrel and the black dyed stock really caught my eye,,,
So, thinking that I didn't have a small-ish .22 semi-auto,,,
I ordered one for myself as a whimsical gift to me.
This little rifle performed perfectly right out of the box,,,
It ate bulk plated ammo as well as the lead sub-sonic stuff,,,
And seemed to be (even to this shaky old shooter) a very precise shooter.
It was a joy to shoot whether serious paper punching,,,
Or plinking at a 3" spinner.
In fact, I liked it so much that I gifted one of my other semi-auto's,,,
To the son of a good friend of mine.
I needed the space as I did decide to order a full size CZ-512 rifle in .22 LR,,,
The full size version performed exactly like the little carbine,,,
Eats all of the different ammo and places them on target.
So, here they are,,,
So why am I so glad that I bought them when I did?
It wasn't a year later that CZ decided to discontinue them,,,
After 2019 (?) these two beauties are no longer available in .22 LR.
They, and the scope ready American, are now only available in .22 Magnum.
Why CZ decided to do this is beyond my thinking,,,
But I'm sure that it had to do something with money/profits.
In any event I am extremely happy with my two CZ semi-auto's,,,
And feel very fortunate that I have them in my safe.
How's this for a bit of extra irony,,,
I eventually used up all of my Cabella Bucks,,,
I put a nice 3-9 x 40 Nikon scope on the little carbine,,,
And an even nicer 4-12 x 40 Nikon scope on the full size rifle.
Nikon got out of the rifle scope business within months of me buying them.
Go figure.
