Riflescopes advice needed for an FN SPR:

In 2002 I bought a first generation FN Special Police Rifle. The rifle has never left the safe yet, as I couldn’t afford to buy appropriate riflescopes. Now I have two Leupold riflescopes available. Both Leupold riflescopes have the following in common:

Mil Dot Reticle
30mm Tube
Side Focus Parallax
Long Range

Leupold Riflescopes “A†is a:
3.5-10x40
#51850
M3

Leupold Riflescopes “B†is a:
4.5-14x50
#54560
M1 Target Knobs

I have the following questions:

1. Which of the two Leupold Riflescopes is the better choice for the first generation FN Special Police Rifle?

2. Which quality base & rings do you recommend?

3. Where can I buy the base & rings for the best price?

4. Is there something particular about the Leupold Riflescopes you would like to bring to my attention?

5. I do not have a lot of experience with bolt-action rifles. Therefore, is there something special you would like to bring to my attention?

6. Is there something particular about the first generation FN Special Police Rifle you would like to bring to my attention?

7. Do I have to do some particular “tweaking†with the first generation FN Special Police Rifle?

8. Which quality bipod & sling do you recommend?

Depends on what you want to do with it. I assume tactical work, so definately the 3.5-10.

I love the versapod, and mounted it thru a drilled hole to the front of the stock. I have a ching-sling, but am nowhere near as good with that.

Please don't look at my scope. I am not lucky enough to have two leupolds to choose from yet.

How do you like your SPR? I got the A2 SPR on my short list.

IMO, since I am not in law enforcement or military and find it unlikely to use the rifle in a tactical situation, I would be using it for target shooting only. For that, I like higher magnification and more light. I would choose 54560. (I'm planning on topping the A2 with 6.5-20 or 8.5-25 LR/M1 no illum.)
