I was working at a sporting goods store doing some maintenance outside and a guy parked by where I was working. I saw he left his windows down a bit and asked if he could do me a favor. "it depends" he replied... I said I was going to be running a blower in a bit and did not want any dust going into his car... he appreciated that and I saw he had a cane and a rifle bag... I walked over and held the rifle case and asked if he brought one in for repair. He said no he was thinkin of selling or trading. I did ask what it was and he got my attention when he said what it was. A Rossi 92 had been on my radar for quite a while. He named a price... one of about half of new and I said I would take it if he did not work out a deal with the store... I said take your time I will be workin out here for a while.
I could not believe it when as I was going to leave a note on his car he came out carrying the rifle still... I know some like em and some do not. I have marlin and Winchesters in 357 and 44 respectively. I am fine with the caliber and the barrel length.
Best part was I gave him 5.00 more for following me to my bank instead of catchin up with him later and he threw in a 35.00 box of 44 special factory loads and a 30.00 or so rifle case... I was not expecting to find a used 92 for anywhere close to the 250 I paid let alone get 50 plus in accessories.
It should make a great truck gun for here in Ohio... should handle just about anything short of a Bigfoot- even then should be respectable enough with heavy loads
Do any of you know how the bores usually run on these? I know the Winchester and marlins tend to be bigger than the normal .429 sizes and usually need larger lead...
