Hello to all! I have been looking at rimfire pistols for a while, and have narrowed it down to a ruger. (I think. Mainly because ruger says they are safe to dry fire.) So anyway, I have several questions. This will be for learning how to shoot a handgun, plinking, and Bullseye. As a beginner I probably don't need something as accurate as a model 41, but would like the pistol to be more accurate than I am.

1: is there any difference in accuracy between the regular mark III pistols and the 22/45 bull barrels shown in the link assuming same barrel length?

2: Is the mark III easier to dry fire than the 22/45? They have different controls, or at least different control locations.

3: Which barrel length from the link above would have a balance most similiar to a full-size centerfire pistol ( maybe a 1911) with a five inch barrel?(I'm guessing the five inch one )

4: Other than perhaps some antique lugers, is the regular mark III grip identical or very close to any modern centerfire pistol, and would practice transfer well? I have heard it will.

5: Which out of the following has a lighter trigger, A ruger single-six, A ruger autoloader rimfire pistol, or an S&W 617 fired in single action?

Any Input welcome. I've been running this through several different forums.

Maybe I should have put this in the autoloader forum, but I'm open to revolver suggestions too.
Keep in mind this is a first handgun, but I own and am familiar with long guns.

By the way how are cabela's prices on these things?

I am a diehard Ruger fan. I own one of each model.
The barrels on the MKIII seem heavier than those on the vented hunter or 22/45 models. I have never found the controls hard to manipulate, and no dry firing most Ruger product will not harm them.
I prefer the 6" tapered on the MKII the best.
If you are accustomed to a 1911 the 22/45 is for you it has the same grip angle. If you like Glocks get a MK they have similar grips.
Triggers on all of them are similar but I like the Ruger Standard and MKII triggers the best.

1. no mechanical difference
2. i don't understand how the different locations of controls would affect how a pisttol dry fires...the 22/45 is designed to feel like a 1911
3. the 6" barrel from the GMT is the closest to the 1911
4. i feel that the closest grip angle to the ruger would be the glock
5. trigger feels will differ depending on fitting, but mine rate (from lightest to heaviest) S&W 617, Ruger semi and Ruger SA

Thanks. glad to know that

Or, in the semi-auto forum, maybe. There are always more viewers.
Would it fit there? I'm still open to suggestions on revolvers.
