Somewhere in the next couple of weeks, I should be going to Cabela's to pick up a gun safe I ordered from there. I will be holding some Rimfire pistols, probably a ruger mark III and a Ruger 22/45 , to see how they fit my hand and how they compare to the feel of centerfire guns.
I'm going to compare the 22/45 to a 1911 with a 5 inch barrel.
My question is, which GLOCK should I compare the regular mark III to? (I hear the grip angle on these is prety similiar to GLOCKS.)
What other carry pistols should I be comparing them to, please list the barrel length and size. I know the XD for sure, but which XD?

Disagree--

Ruger rimfire semi-auto pistols (except the 22/45) feel like the Luger P07. I have NEVER noted ANY similarity to the Glock.

If I had to choose one Glock, I'd go with the 36 (single stack .45) as the thinnest width (1.13 vs 1.18 inch--yeah, I can tell that!) :scrutiny:

For compacts and sub compacts, look at the G30/G30SF and check out the G36.

Hold a glock 17 and see if you like the angle. If you want .45 you will need to hold a G21 (it has a bigger grip)

What are the measurements of your Rugers?

Comparing .22lr frames to 9mm/.40S&W/...etc. will be VERY different and obvious. At the same time, not every shooter has the same hand. So you'll have to take some time gripping and hopfully shooting some Glocks to find the one that's best.

Others have mentioned different models. I'd recommend a Glock 19, since that's a very popular model.

Good luck with your choices!

Thanks for the replies, keep them coming.

If you want .45
Would probably be getting a 9mm first, (after getting proficient with my .22) get used to and good at controlling the recoil, then move to a larger caliber than 9mm.

A ruger mark ii/mark iii is NOTHING like either a 1911 or a glock. Not even close.

As a previous post noted, it's closest to a luger. Other than that, there's nothing even remotely similar. Now, if you get that plastic framed version of the ruger, it is similar to the 1911...kinda.

Since the 22/45 was designed to feel like a 1911, it does:D The grip angle of a Glock is very close to that of a 1911, its the hump on the back of the Glocks, that make them feel different, and point high for some. A standard 1911 grip is also thicker than a Glock, till ya put them nice slim grips on em.
