I have a ruger no.1 light sporter in .30-06 on the way. I know it comes with "high" rings from ruger and I'm wondering if this is too high for a good cheek weld. I'm going to put a leupold 1-4x20mm scope on it so the clearance won't be an issue i'm just concerned because i like to get down on the stock to get a solid cheek weld. If anyone has experience with the ring height i'd like your opinion so i can figure out whether or not to get low or medium rings. Thanks.

Depends on your face! :D
Really it does, for me with that scope low rings would be ideal. If your buying one set of rings and may change scopes in the future then get medium.
Enjoy! I love #1's!

I am a collector and shooter of Ruger #1's and as such I need the high scope rings to get a decent "'spot weld" on their stocks. The last several rifles that I purchased new, Ruger gladly exchanged the standard rings for high ones at no charge. This was several years ago and I don't know if they will still do that, but it won't hurt to ask. :)

sounds great. i think when i get it i will put the high ones it comes with on to see what it looks like and just not tighten them down. hopefully Ruger will come through and exchange them for me if I need to.
