I have two scopes, One is a Burris veracity with a 50mm obj and 30mm tube And a Burris fullfield E1 with a 42mm obj and a 1" tube.
The veracity mounts perfect on my rifle with low rings. I now would like to mount the fullfield on the same rifle using the exact same Picatinny rail. I am banging my head on what height rings to use.
using the exact same model and brand of rings

My gut feeling is I need to bump it up to Medium because of the tube differences. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Dale

Many ring brands give their height specifications as height from rail to center-of-scope-tube. Even if the ones you buy are not listed as such, you can add half of the tube diameter to the specs to get there easily.

Buy the same centerline height, you’ll be fine.

If you wrote all of that correctly then the larger scope already fits. Now the 1” tube will have a centerline that sits ~2mm lower than the 30mm (30-25.6=4.4mm/2=2.2mm).

Put another way, if the scope bodies are the same thickness on your Burris scopes then the Fullfield’s objective would be equal to a 46mm on a 30mm tube. Assuming the same ring height (centerline to base), you’d actually have 2mm more room between rifle and scope, all else being equal. So if your current rings were advertised as .75” you would want to purchase rings with a height of .827” or as close as you can get.

That leaves bolt clearance as a potential consideration, but ideally when the rifle is set up correctly you’ll want both scopes centered on the same plane for a consistent cheek weld. That is the reason for taller rings in the above paragraph.

Red line passes through the center of both scope tubes keeping eye alignment consistent.
