RIP CZ 97 Series

No loss in my book.

I bought an original in ‘97 when they came out. I was a CZ lover way before CZ was cool. That was a pig in my hands that did not perform. I had high hopes.

I do have to admit I have not held a new one since gun owners became woke about CZ. Maybe there were changes?

‘Regardless, the bad taste is still in my mouth 25 years later.

IMG_3453.JPG Excellent pistol. I would recommend the CZ97b to anyone who likes the .45ACP cartridge. It is big and heavy, so not for everyone, but talk about accurate and reliable out of the box! The heavy frame eats up recoil so follow up shots are a snap. My Winter carry gun. The ones in the market now are going to go sky high in price.

WAIT … CZ is stoping the 97???

NO! I have not got my 97 yet. I spent it on a stupid 10mm Tangholelio

I had a two-tone about 15 years ago that in ended up selling. I picked up a 97BD last year — glad I did!!

I found this statement at the bottom interesting:

“Due to the nature of the California DOJ Handgun Roster, we still make an older version of the 97 B specifically for the California market.”

Glad I got 2.
Imo one of the best if not the best 45 made.
Maybe they will do an upgraded model but I doubt it.
They even dropped the 45 P10 after just a few months.

Not a fan of the .45 cartridge, so no loss to me. That said, maybe they are repurposing the frame for 10mm? Maybe call it the CZ100 or CZ110? I'd be all over that one!

I wanted one for years, then I got a great deal on an EAA Witness 45, and then soon after, on a SAR K2 45, a 14+1 gun which killed my lust for the 97B. I paid $400 for the Witness, and $369 for the Sar.

I bought the Witness 10mm all steel, and at the gun shop, it racked fine. I take it home, clean and lube with AR lube, like I do with all my guns. NOW, the slide is so slick, I have to gorilla grip it to rack. Only CZ for me going forward

I’m confused. Was there a problem with the Tanfoglio? I’m hoping to get a 10 Tanfoglio when they become available, and if there is a problem I want to know.

Wow…that was a smokin’ deal on the Sar! Looking around now, they’re going in the $600 range! :what:

They also seem to all be aluminum frames now. I got mine when they were $369 and the frames were steel. I love it, by the way. CZ 97 was on my list until I got the Sar K2 .45. It’s pretty much a Tanfoglio copy, so I like the trigger design better than the CZ. Of course, Cajun parts don’t fit the Sarsilmaz, to my knowledge, so that’s a loss.

SAR USA website doesn’t list any aluminum models - only steel (and I don’t see any listed for sale anywhere). Too bad it has a manual safety…I just won’t buy those. If they had a decocker-only like the 97BD, I’d pick one up in a heartbeat! (Having to decock the hammer by thumbing it down also isn’t very cool in this day and age!)
