Hey, I need to get a riser mount (or whatever you call it) for my Armalite AR flat top in order to get my 50 mm Leupold VX II mounted on it. It hits the front hand guard and I only need 3/8" or 1/2" to clear it. I was looking on-line a bit and seeing a wide variation of prices. There are cheaper versions from Tapco and B-square. I saw one on Bushmaster's website that had a flip up sight build in.

Can anyone give me some recommendations for a the best riser mount to use? I had a RRA EOTech mount on it previously. It has iron sights and a spot to mount the EOTech in front of it. I think I will likely put that back on once I do some accuracy shooting, but I still don't want to go cheap on this. I have gone the cheaper route for optics and mounts before and never been completely satisfied.

What do you use on your AR? Any suggestions or experience would be appreciated.

If you want a nice quality mount, Larue makes one piece scope mounts in a variety of heights. Just tell them what you are trying to do and they will set you up. I am a big fan of their mounts because they have a great return to zero.

I've got an A.R.M.S quick detach mount that gave me just enough rise for my Leupold 4.5-14 VXIII. I don't know how it would work for you but it does return to zero very nicely and gave me an extra 1/2"-3/4" of extra mounting surface forward of the native A3 top. (which I needed for a comfortable cheek weld)

Have a good one,
Dave
