RMR Bullets Packaging

Yes RMR bullets are WAY better than plated. They don’t swage undersize as easy and you can push them to insane velocity if you want to. They are easy and forgiving in every way compared to plated or cast. And more accurate in every test I’ve done compared to plated. Lots of times RMR jacketed bullets are the same cost as plated. The packing is a non issue for a better product.

As someone who loaded luggage at the Charlotte airport for a Sumer. I can tell you, we treated your luggage like a sack of hot potatoes. Everything was on the tarmac including: live seafood, transplant organs, lots of guns in cases… but guess what could NEVER touch the tarmac?!!!!? US Mail & Packages! that came on separate luggage tugs, and straight under the plane.

USPSA boxes with 3M tape = bullet proof

Good post Hartkopf that is what I like to hear and I agree with you about the packaging with your comparison . It’s really more about the end product being better .

you don’t got a utility knife? I have like 8 of them! want one? send it to you USPSA with 4 layers of 3M tape!
Yes that is what I used , but I was trying not to tear up the box because I thought the bullets were loose in it and all that tape made it impossible . I was glad to see that they were in a sealed bag inside the boxes .

I guess if you want to call a semi sturdy box that is well labeled and all you have to do is put it on the shelf fancy I wouldn’t argue that label , but to me I just call it better . They are priced good for a FMJ bullet compared to other FMJ bullets like Speer and Hornady , but they are not cheaper compared to plated bullets , or cast bullets . So are they better than plated or cast bullets to spend more for something that is packaged better in a fancy well labeled box that stores well and cost less . I am going to do my own comparison, but I would like to hear your comparisons between them and a your favorite plated bullets . I said that I was going to clean some brass today . I went to do that and all of my 9mm brass is loaded now . I will have to do some shooting first , but it’s raining today .
If you can get the accuracy, and drive them at the speed I do in 223 with any other bullet near the rmr price I'm all ears.... buy a fancy box with the money you saved in free shipping alone....

I know that plated bullets can’t be pushed near as hard as FMJ bullets and I am not that shooter . Plinking pistol is what I load , I don’t think I load anything as high as 1200 fps and I don’t disagree with you on the low price when they throw in free shipping . But we all know that shipping isn’t free but calculated in the price . The only free shipping is when a company charges shipping and then offers free shipping as a promo . That is usually how I buy from places that charge shipping . Don’t get me wrong I think that RMR is a great company , I just don’t like how they package them , but that won’t stop me from buying them again if they are the better bullets . I know what to expect now and anyone reading this thread that didn’t know and was thinking about placing an order now knows .

Maybe it’s just a matter of time and experience. I still have hardware store bags of Sierra 180gr MK’s from the store in Merritt Island (Florida) where I used to buy reloading supplies. They had crates filled with bullets from Sierra, Speer and Bull-X and a few others. You walked up to counter, told the clerk how many pounds of bullets you wanted and he scooped them into the scale pan. The scale pan got dumped into a brown paper bag, rolled up and taped then marked with a Sharpie. You took the bags to the register and paid. Transaction over. It’s almost identical to how hardware stores used to sell nails.
Those bullets shot the same as the ones that came in a green cardboard box.

There rmr match winners in 9mm are my favorite paper puncher.... I cast all my own pistol bullets now, so I no longer buy those... if the start producing a 140ish 6.5 or a 160 class .308 bullet in the same spirit of the 69s I'll be buying those en mass also...

Did you have any problems with the old Sierra’s in the paper bag? I know packaging is considered a science now but it wasn’t that long ago we just thought of it as a means to an end.

I haven't shot them yet. I've not shot the 308 very much and when I have its dragging out tests. My max range here is 200 and those sit next to my stash of 175s for a more noble purpose...

I don’t mind the plastic bags that they are in and I wouldn’t want them to increase the price of the bullets by $22 dollars just for a nice cardboard box like Xtreme bullets when they are not offers free shipping . Heck the last batch that I recently ordered from them on special came with free shipping and each 500 round box was in a free metal ammo can .
