OK, no whining about the cost. I want one of these so bad I can taste it. The only issue I have left with the ROA I shoot in SASS and for endless fun, is the hammer. I have a Ruger Bisley that fits my thumb perfectly. The ROA's hammer would benefit from having a Bisley hammer.

This is from David Clement's website. As you may know, David Clement is the best there is. I have dealt with him multiple times and there is no better or reliable gunsmith.

So please if you are interested in this contact David and put down a deposit. He only is asking that a minimum of 20 folks send a deposit.

Notice to Old Army Shooters

I have been contacted by several people wanting a Bisley hammer for these revolvers. I will make a limited run provided I can get orders for a minimum of 20 hammers. Due to the high cost of the stainless needed to make the parts, I will require a $50 deposit for each stainless hammer. I will begin taking orders immediately and go until Feb. 1, 2011 before beginning production. If not enough interest is shown I will return all deposits.
Available in the following configurations:
1- Standard style with Bisley spur compatible with standard gripframe and trigger. Blue $185 Stainless $215
2- Bisley style for use when installing a Bisley gripframe- hump added on back to fill slot in frame. Blue $195 Stainless $225
3- Bisley trigger compatible with NM Bisley gripframe and trigger return spring. These will be needed when ordering the preceeding hammer. Blue $50 Stainless $60

I have a Ruger Bisley and that is correct. It is wider, lower and further back, making it quicker and more comfortable to cock. Not to mention I think it looks better.

The ROA obviously uses an entirely different hammer than any other Ruger. The only way to get a Bisley hammer on an ROA is to cut up an existing ROA and Bisley hammer and weld them together or....hope that someone like David Clement makes them from scratch. As always, anything from Clements is better than stock could ever hope to be.

It's true...but I warned not to whine. I'll still do it...my thumb demands it.

I can't wait to see the pics with the new hammer on your ROA. :D

Personally, the factory hammer works great in my hand. Maybe because I have big hands. Do you think the benefit is better for fellas with small hands?

I have sent my check for $50.00 to Clements Custom Guns, as a deposit for a Bisley hammer for the ROA. He only wants 20 orders to make this happen.

I can tell you that David Clement turns out nothing but perfection. You will not be disappointed.

It is shocking that a gunsmith answers all emails and phone calls. He finishes the work when he says and turns out nothing but top quality.

Yeah, I know...but Colt style frame I have is not un-Bisley like. I think it could be a matter of persuasion/opinion. And truth be told, I'm in no danger of winning.

And...it is just about my favorite pistol and the Bisley hammer would make it more pleasant to shoot, one handed, quickly. Comparing how much I shoot this pistol for pleasure and how much I shoot it in competition. I shoot it for fun about 3 orders of magnitude more than in a SASS setting.

No persuasion/opinion involved, an official ruling has already been made.

FYI, if you're a SASS shooter, this is not a legal modification for their matches.
+1
Not legal to shoot SASS sanctioned events is true. I know as a frontiersman myself, I would not like to see you show up with hammer modifications in my class, however you could shoot a couple other classes with a modified C&B revolver, just not frontiersman. It is not an unknown fact that ROAs work really well in the frontiersman class or for shooting plainsman for that matter. You may very well be able to shoot externally modified ROAs at local matches, but not higher than that unless there is a major rule book rewrite and that won't be real soon.
Clements, Power Custom etc may cast out and machine the bisley style hammers. Then would be good for plinking and hunting, but not for cowboy action shooting or even NCOWS. Commendable endeaver however.
