This always puts me in sort of a bind. I don't want to appear to be advocating any violation of the law, but at the same time perhaps I can make a practical point. MD law is strict on transporting a handgun. (Magazines are not an issue unless you plan to sell one in MD, but see below.)
But, if a driver does not drive recklessly or otherwise call attention to himself or his car, the chances of being stopped are near nil, and the chances of the car being searched (or a search requested) are even less likely. But make sure you remove any gun related materials, including magazines, both ammunition and print kind, from the passenger cabin. A trooper seeing a speedloader on the console was considered probable cause to search the vehicle; when a gun was found in the trunk, the driver and passenger were arrested.
