I just got the latest Cabela's sale flyer.
In it they are selling Savage 111's for four hundred dollars. One caliber listed is the 257 Roberts.
I am interested.
I have always heard good things about this caliber. I even read somewhere that it was decribed as the most useful cartridge developed.
I went through my reloading manuals and realized that it doesn't give up much to the 26-06. It is sort of like comparing the ballistics of the 308 to that of the 30-06.
But I also realize reading is not the same as actuall experience.
Does anyone here have any experience with the 257 Roberts?
What do you think of it?
Would this rifle be a good bargain?
Thanks.
