I am going to be buying a Robinson Armament XCR Modular Weapon System in 5.56 mm and was wondering what attachments everyone else would get if they were ordering it from their website.

http://www.robarm.com/proddetail.asp?prod=XCRLS-5.56

I am probably going to get the XCR with the following attachments
16 Inch Light Chrome Lined Barrel with a 1 in 9 Twist
M16A2 Three Slot Closed Front Flash Hider and Muzzle Brake
With a Folding / Collapsing M4 Stock
Flip Up Front and Rear Sights

I am going to use it as a range weapon and a HD weapon and a hunting weapon with the 6.5 Grendal Conversion Kit

I was wondering what all the other members would get if they had $ 1750 to spend not counting money for ammunition or magazines and spare parts just for the weapon it self. I was wondering if anyone has fired a Robinson Arms XCR with any of these attachments or any other attachments and what your recommendations would be. If anyone has a review of any of the attachments offered for this weapon I would appreciate it. Thanks for your input.

Decent quality 16", probably mid-length, free float 4-rail HG, and a trip to Hawaii.

What exactly does that thing offer, really?

I must be missing something big.

I like the looks of the other folding stock they offer for that weapon, I was going to buy one of those before i bought my AR, ended up buying a RRA entry tactical instead. I'd prolly get the 7.62 conversion if they are available, i know they were havin problems finding a company to make the magazine for em. If you really wanted your weapon to stand out, you might just get the chrome lined barrell thats threaded and no muzzle device, then get the flash hider that doubles as a rebar cutter! thats what i would do! Hope all goes well with your weapon!

has anyone had expereince with an xcr in 7.62x39?

does it retain ar type accuracy or is it just an expensive as ish ak?

I would like to know who your travel agent is or where you shop for AR parts.

As far as what to get the XCR, I like the D&L Sports VFG. It is light, strong, inexpensive, and mounts with cross bolts so the lightening cuts are not an issue. For folding sights I like a Sampson front and Troy rear. Stockwise, stay away from the Vltor and LMT SOPMOD if you are going for a collapsing folder because they are too wide to let the stock fold all the way. A Magpul CTR with a cheek riser would be a good choice for stock. What ever you do, look up Bill Springfield for a trigger job.

The 7.62x39 magazine is finally ready for production, it looks like. C Products had the production quality prototype at SHOT, and is scheduled to start production before summer, last info was that the barrels are in production now, kit should be ready when they are done.

If you want to buy a SCAR spec rifle today, your choices are XCR, XCR... or XCR.

As far as accessories, everything works in the same way as it does on an AR with the exception of optic mounts. If you go with standard AR height optic mounts and the existing tube folding stock, the optic will be useable, but a little higher than ideal. If you have a standard mount, most recommend a CTR with a cheek riser. Alternately, get a lower mount. There is scheduled to be an XCR specific SCAR stock released at some point as well, which should be a more elegant solution.

The only thing that doesn't mount well on the light cut rails that I am aware of, is vertical grips with small contact patches (KAC and similar). Do yourself a favor, and get a better vertical grip. The GG&G gets very good reviews. I have a Bobro on mine, and it has a nice large contact patch and locks up very tight (actually its the nicest vertical grip I've ever seen, but that is a separate topic)

I believe it to be nothing but an advantage. The most oft-sited "example" is a Larue mount, where the bottom lug doesn't go all the way across. I tried it myself the day I got the rifle... put a Larue mount on the rail, with the lever completely thrown open, that is, no lever tension whatsoever. Push up and down on the rail. Hard. It doesn't budge. There is more than enough engagement between the center lug on the mount and the side lugs on the rail. Once you put good lever tension on it, you couldn't knock it off with a bulldozer. Its a non-issue, entirely.
