Rock Island Armory 1911's?

I got my RIA compact on a whim. I wanted a 1911 style and I paid around $100 for it after I traded my POS buckmark. I figure if I trade one headache for another, then I'm still in the same position of having just 1 headache. So far so good though. I've only had 2 malfunctions in 300 rounds. Both were my fault. I placed too much tension on the extractor in an effort to eject the shells without smacking me in the head. Readjusted at the range and is good to go. The other was magazine related.

RIA 9mm questions

hello everybody,

I've searching for a RIA commander model and i found out that its very scarce. Its quite ironic coz ive been to Twin Pines gunstore and its supposed to be the owner of the brand. What i found are RIA fullsize .45 and a commander RIA in 9mm. I ask the lady in the counter and she said that its out of stock. My question is...is the RIA 9mm commander can be converted to .45? what parts are compatible and what are needed to be changed.

Hope you can help me with this. All suggestions are welcome.

Why ...

From what I understand, the 1991 pattern gun in 9mm is a dream to shoot. Why convert ... buy it and feed it cheap, plentiful, powerful 145gr ball ammo and fall in love.

I have actually been looking for that exact gun and would like to know where this Twin Pines shop is?

originally my plan was to buy an RIA commander 45 however its out of stock due to increased demand abroad. The units available are the RIA fullsize and the commander 9mm. Now one option i have is to buy the 9mm and later convert it to 45 if ever it can be converted.

Twin Pines is the owner of the RIA trademark, though they source their parts from armscor, and yes Tenntucker is right its right here in the Philippines...specifically Manila.

Thanks anyway,

jl

Bob F., Contact Armscor, I'm sure they will take care of you. They've changed the CS model to use a single spring arrangement more like the Colt Officers model than the Para/Kimber setup yours has. www.armscor.net should have the contact info.

If not, 1911forum.com has "Blackdragon" the US Armscor rep as a member in the "other" forum. Send him a PM, since the operations have moved to Parhump NV they seem commited to having only satisified customers -- what they need to do in order to really compete with Springfield.
