I Just ordered a RIA tactical and a compact from Sarco Inc yesterday and it has shipped out today. Sarco's prices right now are pretty dang good.

Tactical .45= $395+shipping

Compact .45 (4" GI spec)= $349+shipping

Sarco has these and a few other RIA models IN STOCK. ive been looking for a month or so and this is the best deal for NIB RIA 1911's that i could find.

I thought id let all my fellow THR members in on the good news in case they were looking for one as well :)

check out their add they have posted on their site( its a .pdf so you need to be able to open it). click on PAGE P of the Shotgun News add and youll see the add for the RIA pistols.

My compact tactical has been 100% so far. reloads, wolf, fmj & jhp...

Meanwhile my $900 Springfield is back in Geneseo...

Compact Tactical?

I didnt even know that RIA made a compact version of their Tactical... Where did you buy it? for how much? (if you dont mind saying) can you post some pics of it? my curiosity is peaked.

Do you know if they have the 6" Citadel. I got the RIA Tactical FS Bitone 5", and the Compact. (the BItone are very rare at this time). Get them when you can. Notice the prices are starting to go up on the RIA's. Good luck everyone.

Bellshire Hardware off gunbroker, I purchased in early February...

$396 shipped. I got lucky, as I thought I was buying the regular compact version. When it arrived I noticed it was the tactical.

I swapped the beavertail grip safety for a used commander grip safety I got off gunbroker . I also put it a Swenson match trigger from Midway. Both $20 parts that went right in with no machining. The grips have been the most expensive upgrade.

Also, many of the Tactical versions' front sights are coming from the factory too high. It is something that they will fix, if you want to mail it to Nevada... I just took a file to it, and then added some cold blue.

Nice pistols. Every one I've shot has been dead reliable and accurate enough. Wish they made the commander size in a tactical. Heck, why would you make the commander size in a NON-tactical?

The original post lists a Compact GI, not a Compact Tactical if I'm reading it correctly.

What are the differences between the full size RIA Government or GI model and the Tactical?

Tactical upgrades:
The RIA Tactical model has Novak Style plain black sights (dovetails for the front and rear sight which are higher profile than the GI sights), a Commander style hammer (rounded with the hole in it), a beavertail grip safety (upswept and fattened), a full length guide rod, ambidextrous safety switch (on both sides), skeletonized trigger, and a slightly beveled mag-well.

All above true except for Ambi Safety. The High Standard Crusader is essentially the same pistol, made by Armscor.

The only difference that I can see is the addition of an Ambi Safety and of course, the roll mark...
