I can see wanting one in .45 (I have some 1911s in .45)
There are those who would say anything other than .45 in a 1911 is blasphemy,
but a 1911 in 9mm is a joy to shoot.
My Springfield 9mm 1911s are my favorite range guns.

Having said that if I could only have one it would be in .45.

probably still go with the RIA ... I might get the GI with the better sights though, because those sights were awfully tiny...
Seriously, look at it this way ... Buy a 9mm RIA 1911 and with money you save on ammo each year, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BUY A 1911 OF YOUR CHOICE EVERY FEW YEARS. :):thumbup::thumbup:

Yes, free gun every few years!

Just get this and you will be happy. I garonteeeeee - https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/35200

Really, you will thank me year after year after year after year ... Every year you get a "free gun" :D

Why do I think this is something people tell their spouses?:)

Why do I think this is something people tell their spouses?:)
After 25 years of shooting and reloading 600,000+ rounds (not counting 22LR) and expending over $175,000, when wife gave me a surprised look, I told her, "But honey, I saved us like over $150,000 had I bought factory ammo". :D

We have an agreement that she gets to spend double whatever I spend on guns/reloading ... So I went on a $7000 shopping spree several years ago before we moved to our retirement location ... and in 2018, I spent over $10,000 ... and I was frugal last year by only spending around $6,000 ... but most of $16,000 spent was stocking up for retirement, which was last year. ;)

I told her since I bought much of my stuff during Black Friday sales and promotions throughout the years, I saved her over $5000 the last few years ... For some reason, she's not convinced. :p

But she is happy whenever she sees me shooting and reloading and says I always come out of the reloading room more relaxed and happier, especially when I return from shooting.

Speaking of 9mm 1911 pistols, I've actually been eyeballing a couple. One a Rock Island GI and the other a Tisas. The Tisas is $80 cheaper but definitely heavier than the Rock Island. Of course there is always the 38 Super.

1911 in 9mm? That’s like a 1976 Mustang II with a 6 cylinder turd motor. Hell’s Bells get it in .45 acp and reload for that. If you want to shoot 9mm get one of those plastic Glock things. Oh the humanity!

I have the RIA government model (about 20 years old) that is a great .45. Loose fitting as all heck, but reliable. I have the RIA baby rock 85% sized 1911. Interesting, but jury is out on whether or not it is a keeper. It is a kind of fun to shoot 380. The Taurus 9mm 1911 is the one I enjoy to shoot the most of my 1911s, which includes a Springfield RO. Somehow came across a .38 super round and suggested to my wife that I needed a 1911 in that caliber. She didn't buy into that.

As I reload 9mm, that's what I went with. Yes, it's heavy for a single stack 9mm pistol. It also has very pleasant recoil, is extremely accurate, and is a wonderful gun to move new shooters up to after .22LR!

What I'd really love to have is one of those Springfield Armory EMP 4" with the bobtail grips!!! https://www.springfield-armory.com/products/1911-emp-4-concealed-carry-contour-9mm/ Unfortunately, it is out of the "bargain" and "1911" categories, but the slightly scaled down architecture of the EMP just feels right in my hands.

Check out the new RIA 1911s and ones produced in recent years and you will find that slide to frame fit is tighter than many higher dollar 1911s and just as reliable.

I recently did that comparison at a gun store and was surprised that RIA 1911s were tighter than most other 1911s I checked.

When I bought my railed Sig 1911 XO, my friend's RIA Tactical's slide to frame rail fit was tighter yet with smooth slide action and fed SWC reloads (even sloppy reloads) like a minigun.

GSG 1911 is a great 22LR 1911 (German made, same as Sig 1911 22LR) and has been very reliable for me with various ammo.

I all ready have a couple of 1911s in 45 along with a 22lr conversion slide. I was thinking of either a 38 Super or 9mm to add to the collection. Heck I might even get the Rock 9mm/22TMC combo.

You can get a RIA 1911 in .38 Super and swap the barrel with 9mm barrel.

I am thinking about doing just that if I can't find a viable 9mm slide/barrel for my Sig 1911.
A .38 super barrel can be swapped out with a 9mm barrel? Guessing mags will need to be swapped as well. Wonder if this option would work with my Taurus 1911 9mm.

I have had good results with Brownells brand 9mm 1911 10 round mags, and these as well

$15 for the Zeniths. (10 round mags)

No, more like a old Datsun 240Z, or a 600cc sport bike vs a liter class sport bike.

If I remember correctly a 1976 Mustang II was a turd no matter what factory motor you got it with:D
