I have finally saved enough money to pick up a Rock River National Match upper. I have a few questions. What is the difference between National Match and National Match Chambered?

I am considering the A2 because it seems like a better deal with the NM sights, but also might want to mount a scope. If I mount a scope, would I be able to see over the front sight post?

I have played with AR's for a few years now and understand them, but I am not as familiar with the NM rifles.

Then get the A4 flat top, with the removable carry handle.

You probably know this, but the RRA NM is quite heavy. If you just want an accurate A2 their non-floated standard HBar is lighter and should shoot under MOA no problem, and likely 3/4 MOA or better. Of course if you are a very skilled shooter and will be shooting slung up tight the floated handguard will provide some additional benefit.

I have more than one AR and since I do, I prefer an A2 reciever for iron sight work, and a flat top without a front sight post for scope use.

The front sight will disappear as magnification goes up. I think it tends to go away somewhere around 4 power but I don't recall exactly on this. Most guys don't seem to mind it but personally I find the sight image very distracting in my optics. So I get a gas block without a sight post.

The RRA NM comes with a Wilson barrel with a Wylde Chamber, NM sights, and a floated barrel. The Wylde Chamber allows a person to shoot either 223 or 5.56 without worry. The Wylde Chamber shoots both well. I don't recall if the twist is 1 in 8 or 1 in 7. Both twist will shoot the heavy bullets very well.

Other manf's of match type rifles may have their own chambers. ie. Buchmaster has their own match chamber. RRA is the number one rifle on the line because out of the box they do shoot well.

This upper should take a person just starting out with High Power to the Master Class before needing a new barrel.

1 in 8. All RRA Wylde barrels are air-gauged stainless steel barrels in 1:8 twist.

I ended up picking up the A2. One of the things I have always loved about NM Service Match AR's is to the untrained eye, they just look like a straight A2. They are like 'sleepers' in the drag racing world. I am excited to take it out. Looking at some matches in the area now. Thank you all for your advice.
