I just bought a new in box Beretta 96D with 3 mags. I plan to get the weapon/mags plated to prevent rust/wear/improve use etc. Any members here suggest RoBar/Rogard over the Ceraguard process by Advanced Plating & Weaponry? I plan to go with the matte black Cereguard format. The shop is closer to me and they charge less than Robar. I had a Robar NP3 plated 96D with 2 plated mags before w/o any problems but I like the black color for a duty pistol.

PM me if you wish ;) .

Thanks!

Depending on what they charge, it might be cheaper to go with Duracoat and finish them yourself. That stuff is amazingly durable and easy to work with. You could do a couple guns and a stack of mags for what most refinishing places charge.

Ceraguard is a ceramic coating developed for exaust headers. It is VERY scratch resistant, close to hard chrome. Rogard is OK, on a level with Birdsong 'T' coating, but I must say it scratches moderately. , unlike NP3 ! I have had excellent results with Accurate Plating,however have not yet tried the Ceraguard.

update; both plate jobs...

Hi
I got the Beretta 96D .40 today! :D I'm considering going with Ceragard for the 3 mags and slide/barrel(matte black color) and the silver Robar NP3 coating for the 96D frame. ;)

Any THR.org members know if Accurate Plate&Weaponry coats the weapons/mags inside and out? Or do they just plate the ext of the parts/weapon(s)?

I know RoBar plates all the parts on both sides. :D

I decided to change my plans and have this shop work done on my .40 96D;

Robar NP3 on the slide, 3 mags, barrel, Rogard(black) on the pistol frame.

I chose Robar because;
A) APW does not warranty the work :rolleyes: .
B) APW informed me they do not plate pistol mags with ceragard. :mad:
C) They charge more for Beretta weapons.
