Rolex and Handgun Shooting

If anybody here owns a Rolex, do you shoot with it, or with any other high end mechanical watch? Was wondering if the recoil shock would harm anything. I've seen Larry Vickers and others shooting on TV wearing a Rolex.

I posted this on the Rolex forum but some snowflake moderator took it down.

I have had no issues over 18 years with any caliber.

Nobody in their right mind would pay that much for one of those. The movement is problematic and you can get several different models of Rolex subs for less. I had one that I believe I paid in the $1500 range for about 15 years ago.

They were more than that new 15 years ago, and today's new ones are MSRP $8,950, if you can find one. Lot's of people pay more to 'grey market' dealers.

They're worth what you can get for them, and people do pay those prices, and way more for more collectible models.

I believe he's talking about Tudor's, not Rolex's.

They are sister company's owned by the same people..

OP: in 40yrs of shooting Ive only ever owned mechanical watches... Not one breakage that could be linked to shooting. (I do have butter fingers!)

Yes, except one sells for about four times the other.

Earlier in the thread I said Jack Nicklaus wore a Rolex his whole career, it turns out he kept it in his golf bag while playing and only put it back on when done.

I would think that was not because he was trying to protect the watch but rather not bother his swing. I am sure that he could afford to have it repaired or replaced without batting an eye.

Paul Newman's Rolex Cosmograph sold at auction for something like $17 million dollars.

I had a fake Timex, really a Rolex in a Timex case and face. But when I retired, I quit wearing a wristwatch. But I did buy a Seiko solar powered watch for Sunday wear.

I sold my Rolex a few years ago and bought a Casio G-Shock Rangemaster. Kinda like a Timex..".takes a licking and keeps on ticking".

Trivia quiz: Who remembers John Cameron Swayzee?

Cheers,

My father wore a swiss wristwatch for a while, but found that pounding in fence posts killed it. Shooting a 45 auto never bothered it.
