I just ordered 340 rounds on stripper clips...is this stuff decent surplus ammo?? Also, how do you all go about adjusting the windage on your K98??
Thanks

The ammo is pretty good, maybe a little dirtier burning than Yugo. It's a light ball load, meaning it's around 150gr bullet.

The front sight is in a dovetail, and to adjust it, you need to drift it in the opposite direction that bullet needs to be adjusted. For example, if the bullet is hitting to the right of center, you need to move the front sight to the right.

thanks for the reply NC, but what I meant by asking about the front sight was, what methods does every one use to adjust it, for example a punch, or maybe a certain kind of punch... i wouldnt want to damage anything.

I use a hard handle (not metal) screwdriver and tap it. I wouldn't use a chisel for risk of messing up the metal.

As for the ammo, it's just for plinking. No where near accurate - but cheapish, available and always go boom on the first pull.

That sucks about the stripper clips. I went out of my way to buy the ones that came with the stripper clips instead of getting the extra 40 rounds, because I am low on stripper clips.

I bought some Romanian 8mm on clips from Aim Surplus, and the clips work just fine. It takes a couple of "dry" runs, but you get used to loading real quick.

its all about pressing your thumb down about as close to the clip as you can get, then pushing them down into the rifle. I find the stripper clip method to be quite fast if you do it a couple times.

I bought some of Aim's Romanian 8MM for my 24/47. The strippers were really tight, party because the rounds had been in the clips for twenty years. You could see the five imprints in the empty strippers. I actually unloaded the remainder and cleaned and very lightly oiled the stripper clips. After recharging the clips, they work swell.
