About 3 years ago I started using Rooster Jacket for tumble lubing handgun bullets. I liked the low odor, lack of tackiness, faster dry time. All went well until last week.
I took some 357 mag loads to the range. Loads were 2 years old. No problems with shooting, but I found heavy leading. I still had a hundred bullets on the shelf and was going to load with a hotter load, seeing if a hotter load would expand the bullet and seal. But that plan was soon derailed.
Opening the box I found a powdery coating on the bullets. A close look showed the lube had dried to a powder, coming off the bullets. Then I got on the web and found Rooster Jacket has been discontinued, the manufacturer has retired.
