Sorta.

I ended up using some small rubber backers I found at WM. There are some made of felt and some made of rubber with adhesive backing.

I put 4 of those on the fore arm so the barrel sits on them. I also put another rubber washer inside the forarm and one on the swivel stud. Sinched it down and gave it a try. BTW I can just slide a dollar under the barrel till it hits the forarm screw or whatever it's called.

Anyway it is shooting about 2" groups at about 100. On one group I had two in the same hole. Or I missed completley. No you could tell it was 2.

Also the hotter the barrel gets, the worse it shoots.

My 11 year old shoots it better than me.:banghead:

I had to do something close to that with my Rossi .223,
I used felt washers I made outof 1/16in. felt
you are correst also, when the barrel gets hot, it's less accurate

try this, dont tighten down the front swivel, literally, let it spin loose, then fire.
I had the same probs with a 17hmr. Until I found it liked one rubber pad, up front under the bbl, at the tip of the stock, and no tension whatsoever on the front swivel. Then it became a one holer at 50 yds.

I tried the felt thing on mine .. I haven't taken it out yet but I hope to soon! Does the heat have a negative effect on felt??

So basically, you floated the barrel on a rifle that uses the fore arm to help keep the barrel hooked to the reciever... I've heard people use that solution for the NEF handi rifles too.
