Can anyone tell me what springs will fit a Rossi 971? I called Wolff and the person answering the phone didn't know and Braztech won't sell springs. I'm not afraid to experiment, but would like to have a spare or two in case anything goes wrong.

J frame springs work in both my 461 and 462. In fact, after swapping them out for wolff reduced power j frame springs, the trigger is better than a few of my pc tuned revolvers.

On the outside my Interarms 971 Rossi 2" was a twin to the S&W 66. Maybe the inside is close. Anyone know? I by far am no Gun Smith.

I'm surprised Wolff didn't know which springs to sell you. I would write them and see if someone with more knowledge gets back to you. They have more time to research than the person on the phone.

Rossi spring kit

After much searching and asking questions with little result, I ordered a S&W j-frame spring kit from Wolff's to try in the Rossi. It fit and functioned perfectly. Someone had suggested that it might and I decided to try it. The Rossi 971 is about the same size as a K-frame Smith in the main part of the frame, but the grip area is more like a J-frame and the mainspring is a coil. After trying the springs, I called Wolff's and let them know that it worked. They seemed to be glad to find it out, as they had never tried them in a Rossi. Probably a low-demand item, but good to know if a customer asks. I did some other light stoning on the internals and ended up with a much improved DA pull. I still have to do a check to see if it will reliably ignite the primers. I don't anticipate any problems, but need to be sure. L. O. G.
