Just wondering if I would have any problems shooting 44 special cartridges out of a .44 mag Rossi M92 lever action. Has anyone tried it? I'm curious as to safety, reliability/feed and/or accuracy issues.

No safety issues, feeding may be a problem, but my parents have a matching pair of .357 92's, and have put thousands of rounds of .38 through them without a hiccup.

I agree with .45Guy. The only thing I've ever heard of was feeding problems.
I have a Browning B-92 in .44Mag and have fired .44 special without problems. The Browning is made by Miroku, however, and they have a reputation for better guns than Rossi..
I just obtained a Rossi "Ranch Hand" in .357Magnum and the workmanship issue is real, however I am having no problems feeding .38SP through it.
You will probably be OK.

Recently purchased a Rossi 92 in 44 Mag. Ran about 30 rounds of 44 special through it. Cycled and fired fine no problems. And these Were Semi-Wadcutters which sometimes cause problems in lever guns.

Rossi 1892's in 357/44 are built to run the 38/44 specials also, mine actually has ".38sp-.357 mag" on the barrel.
