I have a Rossi M92 in .357 mag. When I got it out of the safe this morning I noticed that the elevator for the rear sight was missing. Ooops!! Looked everywhere for a half hour, no luck. Anyone here know where I can purchase a replacement elevator? TIA!! I really love this rifle!!

I had exactly the same thing happen with one of my Rossi lever guns. I have no flippin idea where that thing went. I was just going to buy a ladder and then ened up buying an entire buckhorn rear sight with a new ladder. The full buckhorn turned out to be really good for rapid sighting. I think I bought it from Brownells...
Buffalo Arms also carries them but the Rossis take a slightly different dove tail size than real Winchesters.

Along with replacement elevators Brownell's has a complete replacement rear sight for both 20" and 16" Rossi carbines. They are made by Marble's and are available with a choice of blade options including full and semi- Buckhorn designs. The Marble's style elevator is more stable and less liable to accidental loss or disengagement than the stock one. It indexes and supports the blade on both sides, being a two-sided arrangement that surrounds the 'arm' and provides a wide, stable contact base compared to the more conventional arrangement. Not expensive at all, but expect to do some minor fitting.

I had an aperture with click elevation adjustment on an old .22 I adapted to the Rossi. Works fantastic for adjusting to either light .38 or heavy magnum loads. I had to replace the stock sight as it wouldn't adjust low enough.

Mine shoots about 4 moa with irons and a good .357 load. It's not quite as accurate with .38 putting its best loads into about 1 1/4" at 25 yards. It's good enough for hunting to its maximum range of about 100 yards.

The Rossi 92 rifles in 38/357mag I have shot all group with the holes touching at 25 yards. If you are only getting 1 1/4" groups at 25 yards with your rifle, I would say something is wrong.

It shoots better out of magnum brass, just figured it was the free bore of the .38s. That's also with a 105 Lee .357" sized bullet. It shoots really accurate in a couple of my revolvers, but maybe the rifling is a little fast for it in the carbine. It's fun, very light, like a .22 (was the idea when I developed it). Perhaps I should try a 158 in it, don't recall that I ever have in .38 brass, though I shoot a 5.0 grain Unique/158 SWC in my revolvers.
I agree I can hit 12" steel with mine stock sights at 200yrds I love it!!!
Mine shoots about 12 inch groups at 50 yards with 357's.. I suspect the barrel band is warping the barrel but have been unable to loosen the band yet to find out. Groups settle to about 2" with weak 38 special rounds.

Back to the OP's original problem: Use Marbles semi or full buckhorn with short or long shank , as i remember the dovetail on a Rossi was all over the place location wise and i had rifles where the short tang worked on one and long on the other. I cannot find a listing for the older rifle dovetail but i believe the newer rifles use a more standard dovetail. Steve's Rossi's makes a peep sight to replace the stupid-ugly safety on the newer rifles if that interests you.
I have never seen a Rossi 92 that did not benefit from a stoning of all the internal parts as they are crudely done, the older rifles are keeping Steve backed up on cleaning the interior smooth and improving the feeding . My trapper carbine has the interior stoned and i replaced the plastic follower wiith a real Winchester steel one and the aforementioned safety with a stud to fill the hole (John Browning did not see a need for that added junk)
Unfortunately the trapper is not made in 44-40 but mine does ok with .45 Colt ammo.

I must have gotten one made by unicorns, everything worked as it should right out of the box. Smoothed out with some cycling, and feeds everything. No parts have decided to make a run for it.

Same here with my Rossi Model 92. Everything ran nice and smooth out of the box and the gun is still doing just fine. Love it for it's compact size and how handy it is with that short barrel.

I had a satin stainless on walnut 92 in 454casull , I could shoot 45LC too that I let my cousin get away with. I really liked that little rifle and I can't seem to find another one in .454 did they stop making them I wander. Maybe I will go with a .44 mag. anyway They make a great hog gun. I like the big bullets up close, puts them wild hogs down fast. I don't wanna have to fight no big boar.

I replaced the factory sights on mine with some made by XS. Mounted the rear in front of the locking lugs. Works like a champ. I wasn't fond of the factory sights.

I have one in .357 mag that I bought for Cowboy Action Shooting, when I used to do that. I've never checked it for group size, etc., but it always did the job in CAS when I did my job. It was rough at first, even though I bought it used, but since it smoothed out, it is great. People have actually asked me who did the work on that. The only issue I have ever had with it was that I had to work the lever with some real authority when shooting semi-wadcutters (which cost me some points in CAS, and frustration). It's a great rifle and I would never sell it. It was my go-to gun for home defense, and I have even equipped it with a leather cuff that holds a tactical flashlight; cowboy tactical.
