Cleaning out an old tool box I bought and found this box. Its in pretty rough condition but I have seen some old Ruger boxes that were in pretty bad condition that are still worth enough to make them worth selling.

I don't collect S&W and have no idea if it has any value or not. I tried looking at a couple of the S&W forums and searching but didn't find anything. I'm not a member of any of these forums and not familiar with them so I though I would ask here.

Just want to check and see if it has any collector value in its condition before I through it out.

The box is dated April 15 1955 with 48048 on the back.

Try the S&W Forum, as stated. You have some money there, maybe upwards to $100

Not hardly. Not for a beat up old blue box from the 1950s. If you had the original box from a Triple Lock from 1908, that would be valuable. But boxes like that are not at all rare. There are a couple of guys over on Gun Broker right now trying to sell a couple for about $25. No takers yet. One dreamer is asking $81 for a like new blue box. I like the old blue boxes as much as the next guy, I like the golden boxes better. But you ain't going to get upwards of $100 for one.

Yes, don't throw it out, but you ain't going to get a lot for it.

A ratty blue box for a 2" model 34 might surprise you.

The ones I see on Gun Broker & eBay are for run of the mill 4" & 6" Model 10's, 19's, etc.

A 2" 22/32 Kit Gun might be a harder blue box to find if somebody really wanted one.
