Rough year for ground hogs

I killed one a few years ago with my 10/22. I’m no hunter so I read up on ammo to kill them with. General consensus on this very forum with .22 was minimum. These things are fat and have thick fur.

My rifle was sighted in at 100 yards so I knew to hold low at the 20 yards away the ground was. Him him in the neck and he dropped back into his hole. I was putting rifle away and son yelled down he was back. Got the rifle again and adjusted. Second shot right to the head. Back into the hole. I went and checked in him and he breathed his last breath as I watched. I was shooting Thunderbolts.

Took up almost half my tailgate (Toyota). Made Brunswick stew out of it. Tough to skin. It was like ripping apart a work boot.

The previous two were taken with the Murbach Single Sixes.

Those are some good looking revolvers, the grips on the single sixes are beautiful. I'm a little envious. Good shot as well.

I've taken one ground hog, crossbow with field tip. Head shot at about 12 yards from my back window here in the sub-burbs of northern VA. Took up residence under my shed and started eating our tomatoes. I've been given the green light to take them out up at my hunting property and plan to start doing so (likely with a .357).
