This time with the other of Murbach's Single Sixes. Again, walked out the back door of my shop to do some shooting and immediately a spotted fawn about 50yds to my left caught my attention. Almost instantaneously, as it bolted off, I heard rustling to my right. Turned to look and another ground hog was running out of the brush not 10ft from me. In a dead run, I rolled him at about 20yds. He's a little bigger than the last one but still a smaller example. It's hot and I couldn't keep the flies off him for the picture.

Nice shooter.
What cartridge? I can almost make out the engraving below the cylinder.
Do you ever whistle real loud to get them to stop and stand up? I used to do that when I was a kid in Pennsylvania. Works great in the Spring.

Sure looks like a 12" barrel ?.
Why thank you! :p

I bet you run out of groundhogs before you run out of revolvers to shoot them with!
Congrats and nice shooting. There's a lot of satisfaction in taking varmints with a handgun.

Now skin him out and make a holster out of him.
Ain't that the truth! The list of those that need to be properly wrung out is long and growing almost by the minute. I need to retire early so I can get all this work done. ;)

You sure you didn’t club him over the head to slow him down?;)

That’s a nice shot on a running critter , I woulda needed a reload trying to hit it at the rate I am NOT shooting due to range restrictions. I fear my perishable skills are withering a bit. :(

Beautiful grips on that revolver, who made them?

Stay safe.

Well, it took all five to get him anchored. I don't think the first one landed but that 9.5" shoots like a rifle. To be fair, I've done A LOT of shooting with Old Model Single Sixes and took real quick to the long one. ;)

Zane Thompson of Lone Star Custom Grips made the grips.
Zane did a great job .

I ordered burl walnut grip blanks from Chiggs to be made into a set for a .44 Spl Blackhawk I have coming soon. I hope the grips for it look as good as your single six’s do.

Stay safe.

The 9.5" is .22LR only. I can't whistle so he was all ass & elbows. ;)

That is a very nice revolver. Thanks for listing the grip maker.

It dawned on me that maybe a dog whistle might work. I haven’t tried that. I live in California now so no groundhogs to try it out on.

I hate auto communista

I'm jealous of you! Two good shots and two really nice six guns. I lust after a 6.5 or 7.5 inch old model Single Six. They're so nice to shoot, and darn accurate too. Those grips are great. My two thumb busters still wear factory grips, sadly. Ah well, maybe someday.
