Rounding out the collection - day dreaming

What's your theme?

^^

That's my issue right there.

What I have isn't a "collection", it's a 66 gun "accumulation". I hodgepodge of guns after competing in multiple disciplines and having hunted across the USA and Europe. Someday maybe I'll come up with a theme and can develop a list to acquire. For now I'll probably continue to accumulate.

Well, you're not getting any younger; the last thing you want to do is wait so long, whatever you want is unavailable or you look back with regrets about not buying it years ago.
The other side of it is that I feel so blessed to have so much (4 rifles and 2 pistols) that I wonder if the money could have been better spent for a more needy purpose. I KNOW that many collections dwarf mine - but it is the mindset, that which will satisfy.

Same issue here, and why I posed the question. Even after formulating one theme I kept changing my mind and started developing another theme, so what I have now is an accumulation of small collections.

So, thanks for noting the difference between "collection" and "accumulation". Maybe if I had paid attention to that earlier I could have built more of a couple decent collections consisting of fewer guns purchased overall instead of an accumulation of many different kinds of guns purchased with little attention paid to fleshing out any particular theme.

for what it's worth - I got a .22 Long Rifle, Winchester Wildcat, and found a resonably prices Mini-14 also ordered. funny, the Mini was something I've been thinking about for years, but overlooked it when making my little list. guess the reality of wanting someting sooner rather than later that could have some tactical application and range toy, was what I should have now. the idea that the firearm or the magazines could become unobtainium with changes to the governmnt highly influence my decision to buy now and pay higher prices - which, for the firearm did not seem too crazy, ammo for it - another story.

2020 was a good year for me firearms related. I ended up getting 5 new ones (also while getting out of debt!), but I've always got my wish list going:

Lever action rifle with loading gate in .357 mag
SAA clone with cavalry barrel in .357 mag
G21 with 10mm conversion barrel
Bolt gun in .223
Bolt gun in 6.5 Creedmore
Bolt gun in .22lr
AR 10 in 308
AR pistol in 9mm

I also really want to get into silencers soon

I would want either a .44 Magnum or .45LC Marlin 1894. I may wait from Ruger to try their hand and see if they can deal with Marlin Jam #1 which is essentially a defect in design or tolerance build (or really both resulting from worn out and antiquated machinery and a refusal to acknowledge the issue, letting in two, and then in more recent times Remington not knowing what they did not know innocently and ignorantly copying the defect). I also want one of the 45-70 Trappers, I would take a late model Remington but again may wait for Ruger to try their luck. I also want a Super Blackhawk stainless in .44 Magnum. And a new Savage Impulse and ---- and ---- ;). And a wish for a 39A in stainless .22 Magnum. I do not want much :).

picke up my Wildcat today, kind of neat for an inexpensve .22 - have to say the trigger seems spongy, if that is what you would call it. I think I have been spoiled with a lot of good triggers because I was just like what the heck is that - when I pulled the trigger - best I can describe it is spongy.

I’m building collections. So I have lists that need to be filled. S&W major frame variations, especially pre-hand ejectors. I need a 38 double action, a schofield, 32 single action to round it out fairly well. A volcanic would be nice but I’m not paying for
It.

Wilcat stovepiped about 5 times this Monday trying it out. Didn't keep and exact count, couple differnt types of ammo, didn't seem to matter, different mags, just once in a while stove pipe. Did put several hundred rounds through it (extimate about 400) so, hopefully it was just a matter of breaking it in and next time it will run a bit more reliably. Although, 1 in 100 doesn't seem too bad, might also need more or less lubrication - but a few different firearms I have that are reliable, simply don't do that ever.

I'm very fortunate to have checked most of my boxes but, I'd still love to add a JM stamped 1894c in .357 mag. The $1000+ price tag these days is a little off-putting.

About 4 years ago, I got lucky. I already had a Ruger GP-100 and had been looking for 2 years but hadn't been able to close on an auction on GunBroker. I finally did close on one with a gent from CO. We traded a couple of emails as I asked about paying by paper check instead of plastic and he was agreeable. This was a "JM" stamped gun from ~1996 with only a few minor dings in the furniture and only about a 5 lb. trigger pull.
Keep looking - they are out there !

I too have a large accumulation from over the years. But there are always more out there and the only requirement is that it tickles my fancy at the moment.

I'd like a Tavor. A reproduction Bisley in 44-40 and a nice current Henry iron frame 1860 as well. A trapdoor carbine is absent from the accumulation along with a 50/70. I should find a replacement for my long lost 03A3 and Krag rifle. Same goes for another M1A loaded I let slip away. A Persian 49 Mauser carbine to match my long Persian. A Turkish 9.5 Mauser as nice as my 71/84. The search continues for a decent Lebel at a decent price. It took me 20 years to get the snider I wanted, so I still have hopes for that Lebel. A S&W 58, make it nickel please. A 340 Weatherby Mark 5 bested me, but a 257 sure would be welcome. I want my stainless M70 classic in 375H&H back too, I no longer suffer the headaches that forced me to sell it.

Hmm, what else,...?

Ah, Belgian Browning Hi-Power. My MkIII 40 is ok, but lacks the class of the original 9mm. Toss in one of those skinny 22 semi-auto rifles as well, from the same maker. The specific model escapes me for the
Moment.

I'm so glad I have a gun affinity and not a car one. None of the new or old cars really excite me, but I could name dozens of old and new guns that I dream about. I guess that is how afford to own and shoot guns. I have a decent gun collection, but nowhere near satisfied.
Short, but sweet:
44 Mag hunting revolver with some kind of scope that will drop a deer at 200 yards
Kel-tec PMR-30 just because have I a lot of 22WMR and I'd love to dump a full mag
Some type of 6.5 benchrest AR that I can reload and shoot 0.25MOA easily (you said a dream)
M-14

I have way more guns than I could ever possibly need and 98% of what I want. I still seem to always have "one more" in my sights. Currently it's a FN 1910 in 7.65mm. I dream about owning a Tommy Gun and an MP40.
