I have been noticing when i change the rounds and mag (once a week) that some of the rounds have a dent going around it. I thought that it was because of the double stack mag used in my carry gun, a springfield XD in 45 apc. But i noticed the same dent when i unloaded a single stack mag from my Kimber. I dont (can't) carry to work (goverment building thing) so it is not like it is getting bounced around alot. I do however carry every where else I go. Was wondering how often every one else changes rounds and what is causing the dent in the round? What about not fully loading the mag? Say 10 rounds instead of the full 13?

Hmm, can't say I have ever noticed that and I don't change my carry ammo nearly as often as you. Mine is changed every 1 to 3 months, sometimes longer. I like to keep my mags full. In higher capacity guns, say above 13 and above, I may not top off like I would on lesser capacity guns. Hopefully others will be along regarding the dents. Maybe you can describe them in more detail in the meantime. You sure it's not the end of the bullets? Sometimes that is more noticeable than others.

...

I don't think by decreasing the max loads down to only 10 rounds is gonna make a dent (small punt..lol) in what is happening.

I recall others posting of little dents in their rounds but forget what the simple explanation was..

Maybe a pic of the round dent/s would help.

little dents happen because the rim of the top round pushes on the neck of the one below it, no biggy so long as they don't get TOO big.

This is also why you must ever so often rotate your ammo in your magazines. Some can get bad enough to get a FTF. Basically, I rotate my ammo once about every 3 months or so, meaning that I take it out empty all the magazines in piles of similar ammo hand inspect them then reload them back into the magazine.

Some of the ammo that rides at the top of the mag where it catches on the top lips can dent pretty severely over time. Little dents will make no difference.

The occuring dents are about 1/3 of the way down, about 1/2 way around the case. Not a crimp mark as they are my reloads all the same head stamp. I have also noted that it is usually the 4th round down in the stack. Short loading the mag.... dunno just did that last wednesday that is the day i usually rotate the ammo and mag. The dented ones I have been tossing them into my range use box. But the dent does have me bothered, and yes they are all good quality mags
