I have the the gun now for a couple weeks but couldn't write a range report for various reasons.
When I got the gun home I was really impressed by the outstanding fit of the slide/frame & the parts, the front strap checkering is nicer than any of the custom guns i've seen. After I was finished drooling on the gun I had to see how the gun looks when disassembled; tool marks in feed ramp, chamber and on top of the frame located in the disconnector hole area. Not what I expected from a $1500 gun. To not think anymore about the toolmarks I went out to shoot it, another surprise; I had about every magazine fired one failure to feed that makes 21 FTF in 150 rounds fired. Dissapointed I went in the house and checked the RRA catalogs description for the Elite Commando which says "TUNED FOR TOTAL RELIABILITY" What a luck - I sold my great working Kimber Gold Combat to get a Jamm-O-Matic Custom gun. Since I didn't wanted to send it back to their shop I brought the gun to my gun smith and he re-throated the chamber (the gap was out of spec, polished the chamber and feed ramp.
When I got home I fired the gun again without any problems. Good - now the gun works (after paying $60 to my smith). I enjoyed the gun for a couple of days and when I cleaned it the next time I've seen the remaining (top of frame) tool marks again. That pissed me of so I called RRA Customer Service and asked them about it and the answer I got was "ummmh...I don't know". That wasn't very satisfying.
Well, I have now fired about 950 rounds thru the gun since I had my smith work on it and zero problems showed up, it is also very accurate; the group on the RRA test target that came with the gun meassured 1.4" @ 50 yards. I am happy with my gun now as long as I don't think about or see the toolmarks. Would I buy another one - NO, I would buy a colt and have it customized by a good gun smith!
On a last note; The RRA is a fine gun when it works but hope not to have to deal with their customer service !
