A couple of questions about RRA Free Float Quad Rails.

1) Can anyone confirm that this Mid-length handguard from RRA isn’t very heavy?

I called and the person quoted me 12.4 oz. But that was after quoting over 17 oz. She was new and VERY NICE and tried very hard to answer everything but didn’t leave me with the confidence that she was 100% certain about it. Wanted to see if anyone had any idea about this one.

2) Anyone have an opinion on this?

Looks cool, but seems like it’s going to be heavier and have fewer benefits. Maybe if they would have left is a half or ¾ moon on the bottom with a rail running all the way along the top.

The RRA rep is currently looking up the weight on this and is supposed to call me back. I mainly asked to see if my suspicion of the weight is true.

Thanks

I've been wondering the same thing when I saw the half quad FF (your option #2). Please post if the rep does get back to you. The price isn't too bad.

Can't say as to how much they weigh, but IMHO there a little ruff on the edges.

Just found out the weight of the Half Quad. It's an even pound. A bit too heavey for a LW barrel. Dont' think you'd notice it on an HBAR. It's already a beastie.

I've got the Half Quad on my Varminter. It came with a slick tube and I replaced it with the half quad. I really like it. It was a little difficult to index, but doable with a little patience. I like that I've got a smooth place to put my hand for shooting and carrying. The smooth part is oval - maybe you knew that but I didn't and I was surprised when I opened the box. I already had a LaRue scope mount to get the scope far enough forward. Otherwise, I might miss the top rail.
