Ruger 10/22; Dang magazine keeps falling out.

The magazine of my Ruger 10/22 keeps falling out while shooting, especially with high velocity ammo. This has been happening nearly since I got it. Anyone know how to fix this? I have not tried simply buying a new magazine yet.

Check for burrs, casting flash, or excessive paint in the hole of the magazine catch, then make sure the mag is fully seated in the well. I've had a couple pop-outs on my new one too.

Is this a Ruger rotary 10 round magazine or an aftermarket?

Make sure the button mechanism that locks the mag in place is working properly. Check to see if it catches by pushing it in and out with your finger over, and over. If it sticks at any point, you need to clean it out and lube her up.

My 1st 10/22 had this problem if the mag was inserted with the action closed. I dont know why, but if the action was open, I never had this problem. My new 10/22 has never had ANY issues!

It's easier to insert a magazine with the bolt open. If the bolt is closed, you need to be certain that the magazine is fully seated with a firm push. Otherwise, it falls out.

It's the magazine that came with the rifle.

And I always put it in with the bolt open.

Sounds like a bad magazine. Purchase a new one and see what happens. They're not that expensive.
