So I saw that www.tech-sights.com finally released their heavy barrel iron sight adaptor, so I snatched it up along with their service rifle style sights and stuck it on my 10/22 w/green mountain bbl and hogue stock:

So far so good after about 500 rounds between the other day and yesterday.

The sight picture is nice, and I've already noticed an improvement in my shooting with the current setup. I like the heavier bbl weight over how I had it stock, and I am gonna pick up some lead shot to fill up the buttstock with too I think. It definately is a good way to go for anyone who wants a non-stock 10/22 and wants to stick with iron sights.

Looks interesting. My only concern is that my GM barrel is a very slightly undersized "second". It actually mikes out to about .910ish. For that "flaw", I got an otherwise perfect stainless and fluted barrel for $35. However, in this case, it might be a problem...

The sights, or barrel? The barrel is simply a Green Mountain .920 diameter barrel. THe Tech-sights adaptor slips over the end of any .920 bbl apparently, and the rear sight mounts to the existing Ruger holes.

Ah ok, I re-read your post and I realise I misunderstood it :p Ok, it's just the regular sights that I'm after. So... *phones favourite importer*

i bet it would look less hoaky on a blued/wood 10/22

nice sights though. i think im going to pick up an sks and the tech sight soon.

Well, you see, for a long time I've been wanting to do a 10/22 project to turn it into an M1 carbine look-a-like. I was going to make the heat shield myself and get a suitable looking wooden stock made up by a friend. The problems were the sights and the magazine. This solves one of those problems :D Now I just need a short, straight, metal magazine for a 10/22...

That definately is a cool project! The M1-ish look is part of what they mention on the tech-sights website. Shooting it makes me feel a lot like I'm shooting my M1 or AR-15, just without the recoil or boom! Definately post some pics should your project work out!

Hey! Thanks for the post. I just ordered a set for my 10/22. Been wanting to have some cheap(er) iron peep-type practice than the M-1A or AR. Looks like the tip!
