Ruger 10/22 LVT super nice !!

Folks , i won a bid on a new in box with the stainless barrel and black receiver.
All i can say this is a great rifle , very high quality. I just received it today. I like the wood and everything on it. I dont have a scope yet but i may have to mount my cheapo CHicom clone HD 5 552 holographic sight for now.

I loaded the 10 rd mag with Remington Golden Bullet to check if it feeds into the chamber and it did. Same with the Winchester SUper X and Remington Target ammo. All went smooth so im glad the chamber isnt as tight as the Walther G 22.

I ll have to sight this gun later this week . I bought this because of the ammo nowadays is super expensive. I intend to get a good scope on this one later but im not in a hurry.

It took me a while to find one at gunbroker as these are getting rare. Now one thing i notice, the bolt hold lever underneath takes awhile to get used to. The one i dont like is,let say, you insert a loaded mag with the bolt on open position.
Its gets tricky pressing the bolt hold open lever to release the bolt forward to chamber a round. Is this the design of the Ruger 10/22 to prevent an accident of some sort?

I ll have to take pics later. LVT is light varmint target. Its one of the distributor special s of the 10/22 made for Acusports. Its still listed in their Ruger website.

Very nice rifle. I like the stainless/blue and wood combination. Stick a nice, small scope on that and you're good. Congrats! Post more pictures when you get your dedicated scope on it.

This is my first Ruger 10/22. Im surprised this only has one action screw to hold on the receiver. i have not tried to remove it . I did use some Remington oil to lubricate the bolt , mag release and cross bolt safety. Yeah, the trigger guard is plastic and the trigger pull is about 5-6 lb . I hope it lightens up as i put hundreds of round on this one. The Ruger specs on this say it has a target trigger but since this is my first i dont know for sure . The trigger does feel heavy as far i m concern.

I put a VQ Target Hammer in my basic 10/22 Carbine and it brought it down to a nice light 2.5-3 pounds, a target sear will lighten it further and give a crisper release, but for my plinking, the VQ Hammer is perfect. Got it for around $30.

I'll second the suggestion to do the Volquartsen hammer/trigger mods. You'll spend a long time & a lot of money trying to "work it in" just by shooting it.

Congrats. You are going to enjoy shooting this rifle. Those are not easy to find.

I bought the exact rifle last year used from a local pawn shop. Love the wood and I prefer the black reciever/stainless steel barrel over other 10/22 options. First thing I did was buy a Magpul Archangle target stock ($120) so I wouldn't ding up the pretty walnut stock, then added an inexpensive BSA Sweet .22 6-18X scope ($60). It's a great combination for under $500. If you haven't already done so, look at the 10/22 forum over at rimfirecentral for ideas, but lock your check book in your gun safe first. As for the trigger, mine probably has 5,000 rounds through it and is fine. Not match grade, but fine for anything I'll use it for short of competition shooting. There are several areas where I need to improve in my technique before spending $100-$200 on a new trigger group would be worthwile. In the current confirguration, 10 rounds at 50 yds will consistantly make a hole smaller than a dime. If I were you I'd hold off on buying a new barrel and trigger. If you do decide to go that route, you'd be better off selling the LVT and buying a used standard 10/22 since you'd be replacing the components that make the LVT more expensive than the standard 10-22 in the first place.

CB...LVT is Ruger's acronym for Light Varmit Target barrel. Basically Ruger's .920 target barrel tapered to .705 at the muzzle. A little lighter than a target barrel but heavier than the standard 10/22 barrel. I think it's a nice compromise.

Thanks for the advise. I will try how i do with the stock trigger . I may go the VQ hammer and sear if im not satisfied with the groups. But im not so concern bec im used to triggers of my surplus rifles that has heavy pulls .

So this can lower the trigger pull to 2-3 lbs? That be too light for my taste since i want to use this for hunting and target shooting. I m trying to avoid AD .

Just my opinion mind you, but 2-3 lbs. is in no way a "hair-trigger" & prone to accidental discharges. In my experience that's where most big game hunters prefer their triggers to be set.

I agree, mine is set at 2.5 and breaks very clean super accurate, doubt many
10/22's remain stock.

Just an update . I went shooting with my pistols at an indoor range. I shot a few rounds with the Ruger 10/22 LVT just to see if it was on paper. This was done at 7 yrds. I used Remington .22 LR target . After a few adjustment, it was very accurate. One hole , three shots . Ill try at 50 yrds at an outdoor range next time.
