This morning I took possession of my new .22LR - Ruger 10/22 Takedown Carbine, a day after I received a pair of Ruger BX-25 25-round magazines, and I just cannot stop smiling. This is my first .22LR semi-automatic firearm of any kind, and other than fumbling around trying to get a feel for the bolt lock lever, just handling this rifle has put a big old grin on my puss.

As for as excited anticipation, the only firearm acquisitions that are comparable were my very first handgun, a .45 ACP Remington R1 1911, and my gently used .44 Magnum Ruger Super Blackhawk SA revolver.

I will not get a chance to shoot my new rifle until this weekend. I just wanted to ask other 10/22 Takedown owners if it is likely that this stupid smile will last for a while. The muscles in my cheeks are getting tired.

I will start smiling again when I can find .22 readily available for <$.10/round. Congrats on the new .22.

crowcifier there is getting to be lots of .22lr available at under $.10 /round. I just picked up 1000 rounds of CCI from Natches DELIVERED for $90. Cabelas and Gander have had various brands from $.05 -.08/rd online, 100rds limit per order, shipped to your local store for free.

That is good to hear. I figure my three boxes of Federal bulk .22LR will not last nearly as long in my new 10/22 as they would shooting my old Single Six. For now I just hope my new rifle likes to digest the Federals. Feeding and extraction has not been an issue with the Single Action revolver.

Ive had my 10/22 Takedown for a while now.

I haven't shot it as much as I'd like to but I still get a little grin when I take it out. Its been 100% reliable with about 6-7 different rounds. Minimax, Blazers, and 4-5 of the cheapest 50 round boxes walmart had.

My 1st gun was a new 10/22 back in the early 80's. I still have it and have probably put around 75k through it (I just listed the usage in another thread). Still very reliable and Ive never replaced a part on it. Its almost stock... only added a scope.
