I have a Leupold scope base question for any 10/22 aficionados out there. I recently acquired a 10/22T, and based on personal preference and past experience purchased a Leupold 1 piece base for the rifle. Is it me, or do these bases seem to not be designed for this rifle?
It appears there are only (3) ways to mount the Leupold base:
•Front of the scope base approx. 7/8” away from the front of the receiver. In this configuration, the front ring part of the base would “float” directly above the barrel and leave the furthest factory tap toward the “butt” end of the base exposed.
•Mount the scope base backwards, with the windage screws on the barrel end of the receiver.
•Drill and tap (2) additional locations to screw the front end of the base to the receiver.
I don’t believe this is a unique issue as there are pictures posted on this website of the various configurations outlined above. The factory taps are the same on this 10/22T as another 10/22 I own. Any thoughts/perspectives are welcome.
